Bakersfield

When going to California, one must go to the vacation hot spot: Bakersfield.  Lol.  Well, we went to Bakersfield not for the glamorous sights, but to see family.  Joel and Samantha with their kids Eva, Liam, and Thomas let us stay the night and it was so nice to see them!  The kids had a blast and it was fun to spend time with them.

We visited Uncle Joel in the oil fields, where Ryan refused to get out of the car, then went back to his house to play with sparklers.  The boys were too tired to play with sparklers on 4th of July, so this was great for them to have some fun!

The next day we took the kids to the "zoo".  By "zoo" I mean place where they only have a few animals that are originally from California.  It was fun, but unfortunately typical valley summer weather so we were just too hot to stay too long.

I think we're looking at a racoon

Ryan loves eagles

Little birdies in a nest

Maps anyone?  Just look at those cute red cheeks.

Shark bait!

The ducks were flapping across the water which was funny so I took a picture.  They must've been hot too.

And of course the boys just had to play with the cousins' legos!
