Virginia!

CHRISTMAS EVE
On Christmas Eve we headed out to Virginia very early.  We left the house at 3 am to catch our flight from Des Moines at 6 am.  The direct flight took us to Reagan airport and after searching for our rental car place and waiting an hour we got a van and drove to Grandmas!  After lunch we went on a hike to find 'shrooms.

CHRISTMAS DAY
On Christmas Day the kids were very surprised to find stockings!  They opened presents and we had a wonderful breakfast and pretty much spent the day playing.

26TH OF DECEMBER
For Christmas Grandma bought everyone aquarium tickets!  So we headed out to Maryland to see all the fish and sea creatures.
There was a seal "show" and by show I really mean training because they were so PC they wouldn't even call it a "show".  But why in the world would they be training seals if there was no "show". Crazies.  Garett had a lot of fun playing with the puppets and we saw a TON of fish!

Then we went to Fort McHenry and learned how the "Star Spangled Banner" was inspired from the battle there in 1812.  We got to help take the flag down and fold it.  Then Ryan and Adam were picked to help put the overnight flag up- which was a lot harder than it looked.  Eva and Liam helped out and they all became rangers.  We ended up going to the American History museum in DC on the 31st and the boys got to see the real flag that was flying at the battle that inspired the song.  Neat!
